Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother), a Philadelphia-based artist, poet, musician, and activist, presents a live performance followed by a Q&A.
Often described as a "hardcore poet", her work blends hip hop, punk, industrial, and free jazz with politically-charged spoken word and remixed audio samples. She has shared stages with King Britt, Art Ensemble of Chicago, The Bug, Claudia Rankine, and bell hooks, among others.
As a visual and sound artist, her work has been presented at The Kitchen NYC, Metropolitan Museum of Art (Chicago), ICA Philadelphia, The Guggenheim, and the Hirshhorn Gallery. She is the co-founder of Black Quantum Futurism, a literary and artistic collaboration with Rasheedah Phillips. Her new album, Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes, was released in November 2019. An accompanying book of poetry, Analog Fluids, is available from publishing imprint House of Future Sciences.
