Know of someone or something making a positive impact on our community? Fill out the form below to nominate your favorite business, initiative, or individual for a BLK RVA Community Award. By submitting a nomination form, each nominator agrees to abide by the rules and guidelines listed on the BLK RVA Community Awards site. Nominations that do not comply with the rules may be disqualified at the discretion of the Richmond Region Tourism Foundation. Duplicate nominations will be deemed void.

Nominations will be accepted from April 21 to May 23, 2025.

Award categories & DESCRIPTIONS

HISTORY

Cultural Preservation Award
This award recognizes outstanding efforts in historical preservation and education. It celebrates a Black-owned business, individual, or initiative committed to highlighting and preserving the historical contributions of Richmond’s Black community.

FOOD & DRINK

Culinary Heritage Award
This award honors a Black-owned restaurant, culinary-related business, or individual that has significantly impacted by preserving and promoting Black culture and cuisine in Richmond. The recipient is recognized for their dedication to celebrating and sharing the rich culinary traditions and cultural heritage of the Black community, creating a space where history, flavor, and community intersect.

COMMUNITY

Rooted Community Impact Award
This award honors Black businesses, individuals, or initiatives that have been integral to the community for over a decade. These establishments, whether restaurants, churches, historical landmarks, or educational series, have secured their legacy and become synonymous with Black Richmond, contributing significantly to the city's cultural and social fabric.

Rising Community Impact Award
Celebrating Richmond's entrepreneurial spirit, this award recognizes emerging Black businesses, individuals, or initiatives that have recently established themselves, bringing fresh and authentic experiences to the region. These new entities represent the vibrant and innovative future of Black Richmond.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Cultural Enrichment Award
This award honors outstanding contributions in the arts and entertainment sector by a Black-owned business or individual in the Richmond Region. The recipient has significantly enriched the cultural landscape of RVA through music, theater, visual arts, or other forms of creative expression.
